Between changes in a photo shoot I rush to swap my headscarf, a temporary wrap to keep myself covered up. It was only when I took some test shots that I fell in love with this style, a couple of pins later ‘et voila’ a new style was born.
To be honest this is how most of my styles come about, if I sit too long pondering pin position I start to lose it. I think spontaneity is the first step in mastering the art of simplicity, that and practicality. The real test is in the wearing, what you don’t want is a beautiful style that after half an hour seems to have flopped around your shoulders with hair breezing around your face.
This brings us on to the number one hijab styling tool ; the headband. I always start with a headband base, something to pin into and keep wandering hair in check. From there it’s just a matter of pulling and securing the scarf to suit your face shape, whether it’s a tight wrap, a Hepburn scarf, or a thrown together look.
But what could be simpler than a ready made slip on scarf that looks perfect every time you put it on ? Not a lot, at least that was my reasoning behind the MAYSAA chiffon wrap band snood. There’s something very « old Hollywood glamour » about the turban wrap detail, and that’s where the design started, it’s also very flattering on a multitude of face shapes and features.
The real reason I wear my design as much as I do ? The comfort ! Anyone who’s ears hurt from tightly bound scarves will know what I mean. I chose jersey viscose because it’s so soft and breathable, it feels light but still secure and without layers of bulky fabric.
What with only four headscarf styles to my name it’s hard to call myself an expert. There are thousands of hijab tutorials to peruse, but you’ll still find me in the same old styles pretending I’ve set a trend !
So there, the secret’s out, it’s all so deceptively simple !

Please,i’d like to know how women of middleorient do with their hijab to look like princesses! You know what i mean? A very high hijab from the head,very large..I dont know how to say in english.. Sometimes i see « princess hijab » on the street,or on the net, and i always wonder how they’re doing??? it seems to be so difficult, but it’s soooooo beautiful!!!

Les femmes du moyen Orient (les « princesses » qu’on voit à la télé)ont des chignons sous leur hijab(ceux que Nous, pauvres cendrillons, faisons pour nos mariages, et il est impensable pour elles de porter nos chignons à l’arrache ou pire de ne pas être coiffées, même pour la vie de tous les jours); donc c’est ça qui fait le volume et c’est plus joli, c’est aussi plus pratique parce que le chignon permet au voile de rester en place, encore faut-il que le chignon tienne en place!!! Pour ce qui est du voile c’est pas forcément compliqué , il faut choisir un châle assez long et là plutôt que de le serrer à s’en comprimer la jugulaire il faut garder un aspect léger et simple et bien placer les aiguilles… plus facile à dire qu’à faire mais faut essayer. Le style, comme l’a bien dit Hana, c’est improviser!!! parce que dès qu’on essaye de le dompter il se rebelle, on ressemble à rien et il tombe au moindre mouvement.

j’ai vu le site d’amakin je crois super beau rien à dire elle est douée
les chignons ne sont pas aussi difficile à faire. Moi je me suis acheté un chouchou à claire’s ou « donuts » tu noues tes cheveux avec et sa te donne du volume ensuite tu mais tes voiles. Moi pour ma part c’est au feeling je n’arrive pas à faire de super beau pli ou de super associations de couleurs car sa attire trop le regard et je me pose quelques questions. De mettre le hijab oui mais qu’il soit trop voyant limite qui attire les regards ba je ne sais pas. Quand pensez-vous les filles?
c’est une question que je me pose assez souvent? et vous?
